Veganlicious 101

For 1001 days (25 June 2011 to 22 March 2014), I'm participating in the Day Zero Project, completing 101 things on a to do list. One of those things is to start and maintain a Tumblr. So here it is.

Pink Lady Smoothie

(yield: 2 full glasses, sometimes a little more—ALL for ME, but it’s also nice to share sometimes)

  • 5 leaves kale (this varies, I have HUGE kale right now…you could also use spinach)
  • 1 beet, a smallish one, peeled or not
  • 2 frozen bananas (peel them before freezing them)
  • 1/4 frozen apple 
  • 3 dates
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • 2 heaping tbsp raw cacao powder (regular cocoa powder will also work)
  • 1-2 cups almond milk (or other non-dairy milk of your choice, also nice to use part milk, part h2o)

Blend, blend, blend. If you don’t have a super high-powered blender like the Vitamix, chop everything into smaller bits first. Enjoy!
